RV Storage Tips

Make sure to remove all perishables from cabinets and the refrigerator. Then, clean the fridge and leave the door open to ventilate. Then, turn it off and be sure all power sources are off by checking 12-volt, 110-volt and LP gas.

Inspect the roof, body, interior, soft molding and the caulking. While you’re at it, service the locks with spray lubricant to prevent rust and freezing.
3.
Remove any batteries from the vehicle and appliances inside. Test them periodically and recharge them if you need to.

Boat Storage Tips

1.
Prepare your engine for winter—drain and flush the cooling system, drain and refill the crankcase, oil inside each cylinder through spark plug holes and take other preservative actions.
2.
Clean everything thoroughly: the hull, decks, cockpit, bilge, compartments, lockers and the engine exterior. What’s more, a coat of wax can help preserve the boat during storage. Once you’ve gone through everything, leave all floorboards, ports, doors, drawers, lockers, skylights and hatches open so they can ventilate.
3.
Drain fuel lines, pumps, carburetor and tanks. Or, you can fill them completely and add a fuel stabilizer.
